BEST FOOD I EVER ATE

Remember how I told you that I was going to write about good things I find? Here's another one.

My girlfriend and I were recently in Virginia Beach. She has been going there for years with friends and family, and it is one of her favorite places in the world. Good memories of good times. Things have changed for her putting me in the picture, so now I will very likely be taking an annual excursion to Virginia Beach with her from now on. I loved it there, with her, and I will be happy to go. New memories for both of us.

Anyway, I was saying... The best food I ever ate!

ROCKAFELLER'S IN VIRGINIA BEACH

While at the beach my sweetie introduced me to a restaurant that she must visit every time she goes there. It is called Rockafeller's. For the sake of discussion, it's in a part of town near the south end of the boardwalk, (as opposed to the north end of the boardwalk). We were only in town for four nights and we ate at

The second time because I wanted to go back. Her favorite dish there is the bacon wrapped, barbeque, grilled shrimp. OH MY GOD!!! It is the best thing I have ever tasted. The order comes with 12, that's twelve, I mean ONE DOZEN shrimp. They were big ones too. Not the pewny ones we get here in Pittsburgh, no sir, they were 'bigguns'. The potato and vegetable were buttered and seasoned redskins, and the best green beans in the world. We also got a little basket of bread at

Now wait... There were a couple of pieces of what I think was french bread, fresh as fresh can be. And the icing on the cake, cornbread. Now, you're asking yourself, how good can cornbread be? Let me tell you, I could have eaten that for desert. I could eat it every day, I'm not sure what they put in their cornbread, vanilla, I think, but it was like cake without the icing. I mean cake that didn't even need any icing. You gotta try this place.

We had seen another table where the customers had ordered some deserts. The two I want to mention are the carrot cake, and the rum cake. They are made fresh ther on the premisis, and are served in huge portions. We decided that we wanted at least one of them, and for our first visit went for the carrot cake. I didn't think they were allowed to serve carrot cake like this. The piece was about six inches by six inches, and at least an inch and a quarter thick. There were four layers of cake each topped with a quarter inch of creamcheese icing. This was more than we could possibly handle there at the restaurant that night.

We decided to take it back to our room with us where we, later that evening, indulged in only the bottom two layers, more than enough. We finished the top two layers the following day. Wow, what a cake. On our second visit we got the rum cake. I wanted to cry it was so good. You have to go there.

I am so anticipating going back there next time we go to Virginia Beach. Can't wait. Oh yeah, the weather was good too, and we went swimming.
